House of Hackney

Echoing the energy and depth of 1930s and ‘40s Bauhaus tapestries, the MARTELLO CHECK cotton-velvet fabric is made up of hand-painted stripes, layered with abandon to evoke the richness and intricacy of woven threads.

In a Modernist palette of browns, blues and golden hues, this sumptuous, British-made cotton-velvet is the perfect print for introducing texture and colour to storied spaces. Ideal for upholstery, curtains, blinds and accessories.

Inspired by the hidden lifeforce of the forest, this sumptuous cotton-velvet in a bargello needlepoint-like print transforms the geometry of xylem into a tapestry of flowing lines. The graphic stripes are softened by organic curves undulating across the fabric. In earthy pinks and browns, the hypnotic rhythm will imbue a sense of grounding warmth to any space. Like the rings within a tree or the veins of leaf, XYLEM reveals the beauty woven into every living thing.

Ideal for soft furnishings and upholstery, this luxury British velvet is made from the finest quality cotton, creating a lavishly soft-to-the-touch finish that's resilient to everyday wear and tear.

The epitome of a late bloomer, 18th century English artist Mary Delany began creating her masterpiece a series of 985 botanically accurate collages at the grand age of 72.

Now, we have honoured Delanys pioneering craft by composing our own collage from her intricate paper mosaics. Designed in partnership with the British Museum, FLORA DELANICA arranges poppies, lilies and Passiflora Laurifolia across luxurious British-made velvet in Clay. Each metre sold enables House of Hackney to purchase and protect 35 square metres of forest, thanks to our partnership with the World Land Trust the international conservation charity that safeguards our most vital natural ecosystems and threatened habitats, acre by acre.
